Roya Ardelan will present a talk and slideshow on Chichen Itza, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Chichen Itza was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya people during the Terminal Classic period (c. AD 600-900) in Tinúm Municipality, Yucatán State, Mexico.

Chichen Itza is a World Heritage Site – a landmark chosen by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as having cultural, and historical, significance. The archaeological site, legally protected by international treaties, must represent a “masterpiece of human creative genius” to be included on the World Heritage List.

Roya is a registered civil engineer. She earned a B.S. in architectural engineering from Kansas State University and a M.S. in structural engineering from California State Polytechnic University. She is a past president of the University Club.
